Ulnar Nerve Decompression at the Elbow

Ulnar nerve decompression is a fairly short outpatient procedure performed at the medial aspect of the elbow, where the nerve runs close to the surface between the medial epicondyle and olecranon. In this image, the right ulnar nerve is being unroofed in the proximal end of the incision. After this moment, the nerve will be similarly decompressed in the distal end of the incision, relieving pain or numbness in the patient’s hand.
